One of England's premier mixed rivers — barbel up to 12 lb, chub to 6 lb, big perch and shoals of dace. The Wye fishes best in the middle reaches around Hereford and Ross-on-Wye. Salmon work the lower river — fly only on most beats.

EA rod licence essential. Most stretches require a club ticket (Birmingham AA, Hereford AC) or a private beat permit. Closed season 15 March – 15 June on the river itself.
